This manuscript explores the use of Spanish language translators in an outpatient clinic in New Jersey. The authors surveyed patients before and after in person, video, and telephone appointments to determine which modality was most acceptable to the patients. The authors found that the three modalities did not differ in patient satisfaction, but that patients were grateful for translations services and that patient trust may be expanded by the use of these services and by focuses of translator soft skills.

Antibiotic resistance is a growing global health threat, and one strategy to combat it is using bacteriophages to enhance the effectiveness of existing antibiotics. This study tested whether targeting the TolC protein in E. coli with the TLS bacteriophage would increase bacterial sensitivity to antibiotics.

This study explores auxin signaling in Chlorella vulgaris, a green alga with potential for sustainable biofuel and food production. Evidence from protoplast swelling experiments suggests that C. vulgaris secretes auxin and possesses auxin import proteins, highlighting previously uncharacterized signaling pathways. Systematic consumption of traditional foods is a popular way of treating diseases in India. Rasam, a soup of spices and tomato with a tamarind base, is a home remedy for viral infections such as the common cold. Here, we investigate if rasam, prepared under household conditions, exhibits antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus, two common pathogenic bacteria. Our results show rasam prepared under household conditions lacks antibacterial activity despite its ingredients possessing such properties.
